Instructor: Laurie Piaskowski Bio

Therapy Dogs are not service dogs, but they contribute in a big way to many people's lives. Therapy Dogs enhance the lives of other by visiting them in their homes, nursing facilities, schools, public libraries, and other public places. These dogs supply the joy of having a pet and unconditional love to those who are in need.

A good therapy dog has a calm demeanor, and is confident working around all types of distractions and all types of people. They are well behaved and follow commands given by their handlers. Therapy dogs need to be certified and registered with a therapy organization in order to visit the places mentioned.

In this class we will start your dog on its path to becoming a therapy dog. Then when your dog is ready to start visitations, the handler (owner) will contact a therapy organization and start the process of certification.
